PRIVATE FARMS TOWARDS 30% TREE COVER.

Kenyan Government has a target of achieving 30% national tree cover by the year 2032. This milestone can only be achieved if all private land owners embrace the special presidential call and grow the same in their lands.

Today, Thursday 28th December 2023, Dedan Kimathi Foundation Environment conservation team spent the afternoon hours at Muti-ini area in Engineer Ward ; Kinangop Sub-County planting trees at a resident’s farm. The team carried out boundary planting pitting, planting and watering. A total of 500 cypress and pinus patula tree seedlings were planted.

As the year draws to the end, Dedan Kimathi Foundation calls out to farmers and land owners to set aside a space to grow either indigenous, exotic, fruit or ornamental trees. DKF is willing to offer technical support on site preparation techniques, species-site matching, quality tree seedlings sources, planting and proper after care activities.

In 2024, the Foundation targets to heighten climate change sensitization through increased awareness creation sessions and Climate action through sustainable tree growing, clean ups and waste management.
