Greening the Future with CKL Africa Ltd
This past Tuesday marked yet another monumental stride in the journey towards environmental conservation and food security, led by the Dedan Kimathi Foundation (DKF) in collaboration with CKL Africa Ltd. The environmental team embarked on an early morning operation, loading tree and fruit seedlings at CKL Africa Ltd’s premises in Kangemi, Nairobi, for transportation to Dedan Kimathi Primary School, nestled in the scenic slopes of the Aberdares in Njabini Kinangop, Nyandarua County—more than 100 kilometers from Nairobi.
Upon arrival at the school, the reception was filled with joy as the headteacher, staff, and pupils welcomed the 8,000 tree and fruit seedlings. This initiative, driven by DKF’s vision, is part of a broader plan to ensure that not only trees but also fruits are planted, fostering both environmental sustainability and improved food security for the local community.
The efforts behind the transportation and planting of these seedlings demonstrate the commitment and passion of DKF and its partners to create a greener, more food-secure future. Through this collaboration, CKL Africa Ltd has, once again, made a significant contribution toward combating climate change by helping local schools and communities take ownership of their surroundings. These seedlings will be planted in public schools around Njabini, serving as a living legacy of environmental stewardship.
For the pupils of Dedan Kimathi Primary School, the excitement was palpable. They recognized that their school was not only becoming greener but also contributing to a brighter future. Their enthusiasm serves as a reminder that the youth are key players in environmental conservation, and their involvement guarantees that these initiatives will be carried on for generations to come.
The greening process spearheaded by DKF and CKL Africa Ltd is truly an epitome of inspiration. As trees are planted and fruit-bearing plants take root, the vision for a greener, more sustainable Kenya comes closer to reality. The unwavering dedication in orchestrating this initiative is commendable, and it stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing both environmental and food security challenges.
At DKF, we are determined to continue driving these efforts, ensuring that each step we take today leaves an indelible mark on the future of our planet. With 8,000 seedlings planted this week and more to come, we are creating a legacy—one tree at a time.
