DKF 3500 Tree Planting Activity in Illasit, Oloitoktok in Collaboration with KFS.
For the second day, today Tuesday 30th January 2024, Dedan Kimathi Foundation environment conservation team conducted a series of tree planting activities in Illasit sub location in Entarara; Oloitokitok – Kajiado.
The team engaged the beneficiary learners of Illasit and Kikelelwa primary schools, Illasit and Kikelelwa secondary schools on deep environment conservation talks and the inevitable effects of climate change if the issue is underplayed.
In addition, the team guided the learners in planting the trees within their school compounds. Casuarina equisetifolia, Croton megalocarpus, cordia abbysinica and white bottle brush were among the tree species donated by the service for growing owing to the fact that hundreds of learning institution have a high timber demand for furniture. The school administrators were tasked with ensuring the environmental clubs adopt the trees for sustainable growing.
This activity, held in Collaboration with Kenya Forest Service, is among the many in line under the framework of collaboration with the latter towards achieving 30% national tree cover by 2032.
National Government Administration Officers and teachers of beneficiary schools have totally committed to ensure maximum survival rate is achieved.
