As we proceed in our tree planting initiative, we have so far planted indigenous tree seedlings in over 250 primary schools countrywide. Our target is planting tree seedlings in over 10,000 primary schools countrywide by 2025. Primary schools being the seedbed of our education system, they contribute a central role in making our future become a reality as far as environmental conservation is concerned. The idea of involving our primary school pupils in tree planting exercises was derived from the fact that they are our future environmental ambassadors.
We normally teach our children how to plant, preserve, protect and take care of trees and in so doing, we make them responsible future citizens. We normally deploy other attractive children’s ambitions that enhance them to admire the art of tree planting and preservation by planting a few fruit trees in every primary school that we visit. In the same connection, we also carry short story books with themes centered on tree planting which we normally read and recite to them as we teach them the importance of environmental conservation. This has so far played a major role in making them admire and like trees of all types and spheres.
Any society does deserve its own dignity as far as environmental conservation is concerned. We call upon like-minded stakeholders that can/will chip in literally contribution towards the purchase of storybooks, tree seedlings, transport and training costs. They can do so by donating anything available that can make remarkable milestone in making this dream come true.
