St Paul’s University Scout Crew Camp at Kimathi’s

Scouts Environmental policy obligates them to put nature first; this in regard to protecting the environment they enjoy while conducting their outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and exploring. To them, a healthy environment is a basic item for survival of mankind.

Dedan Kimathi Foundation is honored to host a group of St. Paul’s Scout Crew from Kabuku Main Campus in Limuru for a three-day camp at the late Shujaa Mukami Kimathi’s residence in Njabini; South Kinangop. The camp, running from Thursday 24th October to Sunday 27th features as one of the build up activities towards the celebration of Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi’s 104th Posthumous birthday taking place on 31st October in Nyandarua and Nyeri Counties.

In honor of the legendary freedom hero, the group of students will plant trees at the residence to memorialize the hero whose most significant life as a fighter was spent in the Aberdares. In recognition of the hero’s career as a teacher, the team has booked some mentorship sessions with Dedan Kimathi Children’s home boys and girls to guide them on academic excellence, setting girls and career choices.

Dedan Kimathi Foundation’s preparations towards the ceremony are on high gear to accord the hero the recognition he deserves as a national liberator who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Coming at a time when the nation political heat has escalated, the Foundation will be leading patriotic Kenyans in planting ‘trees for peace’ the hero died fighting for.
