DKF Undying Spirit to Combat Climate Change

TWO-DAY ENVIRONMENTAL CAMP IN ILLASIT, OLOITOKITOK

In the fight against climate change, discipline commitment and sacrifice are among the values efficient environmental conservator possess. Dedan Kimathi Foundation has been in the forefront in promoting balanced regional environmental activities across all the Kenyan climatic conditions. It has undertaken keen interest in transforming the ASAL areas by conducting Sustainable tree growing activities in schools among other public spaces.

Today, January 29th 2024, the environment conservation team visited a number of schools in which the Foundation planted trees previously. The results were outstanding. Through the ‘Adopt a Tree’ forestation strategy, learners own and offer the growing trees proper after care hence increasing their survival rates.

This comes a day before the team conducts yet another series of tree growing activities in Illasit Location on Tuesday 30th October. Illasit Primary, Illasit Dispensary, Illasit livestock market, Kikelelwa Primary, Kikelelwa Secondary, Kikelelwa dispensary are among the suitable tree growing sites identified with proper fences and water accessibility.

Our Foundation commits to continue transforming the ASAL areas to convert more arid lands to arable lands as trees bring back the rains and cool the environment for increased agricultural production.
